It's easy to forget when it's minus a million outside and mittens are a must, but it's likely that this holiday party season will see your toes exposed. Strappy heels and open toed wedges flood the dance floors and cocktail lounges, and despite what you wish for, no single pedicure will restore your feet to their summer glory. Help your feet put their best face forward no matter the season with some at home TLC. Kiss my Face Peppermint Foot Scrub has everything you need to show your tootsies you care with natural pumice, walnut shells and peppermint essential oil. And when you finally make it for some professional help, you're feet will be ahead of the game!
I never had to worry about sensitive skin in my teens and twenties but it seems as I’ve gotten older I’ve become more like my mother in more ways than one. Now I have to deal with super-sensitive skin every day. Adding to my skin freak-outs was the fact that I would change my skincare routine monthly looking for the perfect regimen…and I’ve FINALLY found it. A huge component of my perfect skincare routine is the Organic Foaming Face Wash from Consonant Body. It’s gentle enough for my irritable skin and packed with nourishing botanicals, like tea tree oil and grapeseed oil, to help hydrate skin, eliminate uneven skin tones and fight blemishes. Just because it does wonders for me doesn’t mean it’s going to be your saving grace though. The face wash is $18 and should last you a couple of months, but if you want to take Consonant Body’s 30 day challenge, you can get the face wash, moisturizer and eye cream all for $90, and, if after a month, you don't think your skin looks and feels healthier and younger they will refund your money no questions asked. What do you have to lose? Consonant Body products are available at consonantbody.com, and select Bay and Sears department stores.
Neal's Yard White Tea Facial Mist
After a day on the train, in a plane or simply behind your desk, it's important to give yourself a little pick-me-up, and nothing says I love myself like an organic facial mist made with, "antioxidant white tea, calming organic aloe vera, aromatherapeutic organic essential oils and soothing Bach Flower Remedies." The White Tea Facial Mist made by this 30 year-old company is designed to refresh and rehydrate your skin, it doesn't leave behind a sticky residue like some other facial mists and is small enough to carry in your purse in case of a spritzing emergency.
Sally Hansen Natural Beauty: Inspired by Carmindy
When the little makeup artist that could hooked up with the cosmetic behemoth, amazing things were bound to happen, which is what did when What Not to Wear celebrity makeup artist Carmindy and nailcare giant Sally Hansen struck an unusual partnership. The new Natrual Beauty Line - Inspired by Carmindy! NOT about nails and paraben-free!
Paraben is a chemical preservative found in almost evey cosmetic and skincare product producted for the mass market. Handy in that increases the shelf life of my favourite undereye cream, not so great in that said undereye cream is releasing possibly harmful chemicals into the skin around my peepers. With the natural beauty movement, parabens are often the first to go.Good riddance I say.
The new Sally Hansen line includes blushes, eyeshadows, lip colour and concealers as well as a primer to help you set everything in motion. And best of all, it has less "junk" in it for me to worry about.
Kiss My Face, natural body care
For a nearly a year I was a slave to an expensive salon shampoo that promised to strengthen and thicken my hair. The opposite ended up happening and when I couldn’t stand my strands splitting and breaking apart any longer, I found Kiss My Face. Since switching to their Miss Treated Shampoo and Conditioner a month ago, my hair has gained shine and strength back.
Though the shampoo and conditioner is my absolute fave, Kiss My Face offers more than organic shampoo. From lip balm to tooth paste and deodorant to shaving cream, this brand's main focus is to offer all natural and organic products. They are one of the only companies in their field who are still owned and operated by the original individuals who are in-tune with living an all natural lifestyle.
I can not say enough good things about their fabulous, all natural products.
Kiss My Face Peace SoapLike a lot of people, my mother taught me valuable lessons throughout my childhood, adolescence and into early adulthood when I was still somewhat impressionable. Don't even bother to open the bill if you can't afford to pay it. Never match your shoes to your handbag. Money does you no good when you're dead. And so the other night when a friend asked me if I had savings I said yes, but not the conventional kind with interest and tax rebates. I bank in karma. Which is why Kiss My Face Peace Soap is ideal. It satisfies both my affinity to vanity and my need to do some good in the world no matter how small. Peace Soap is made from pure castille soap and comes in a number of "flavours", from lavender mandarin to lemongrass clary sage, to grassy mint. It's biodegradable, paraben free and contains no artificial fragrances. And it also makes a huge contribution to the karma bank every time I buy it! Proceeds (10% of profit) from the purchase of every Peace Soap go toward an organization called Seeds of Peace. Its mandate? To bring together youth from conflicted countries like India and Pakistan and Isreal and Palestine, and create an environment where they can learn from each other and see that the "enemy" can actually be an ally. Peace Out!
I’m a huge fan of body butter from The Body Shop because my skin is super-dry all year long (though obviously worse in the winter). I used to use the coconut scented body butter until someone in the office asked me if I was drunk on piña colada. That’s when I realized that, while I was used to the scent and could barely smell it anymore, it was very overwhelming for others. Spa Wisdom™ Polynesia Monoi Body Balm. It has all of the special ingredients to make my skin super-soft and supple – including Community Trade organic virgin coconut oil - without making me smell like I've spent the day on a patio sipping cocktails.
EN|rich Deep Treatment - La Coupe Orgnx
I am constantly changing the look of my hair – I’ve been a red head, a blonde and a brunette in the last year alone. My natural curls are often blown out or flat ironed. Though I love to switch up my look, my hair doesn’t appreciate the constant abuse. My strands are stressed out and dry, so I was thrilled to give EN|rich by La Coupe Orgnx a try.
I saw results from this deep moisturizing treatment after just 3 uses. My hair has started to look shiny and rehydrated - plus, it no longer feels like straw when I run my fingers through it. Even after you rinse the treatment out (after letting it sit for 5 minutes), you can feel the difference in the texture of your hair. The entire Orgnx line from La Coupe is sulphate free, paraben free, DEA free and cruelty free.
